In previous video we learnt to find the term number of an arithmetic sequences depending on situations. I hope you are good to find the term number of an arithmetic progression.


Now in lesson, we are going to find the common difference of the arithmetic progression using the nth term formula of Arithmetic Progression. It is also a little bit like the previous question.

So how was it?
In this problem, actually we had got a relation between the two terms viz. 17th term and 10th term.
Here 17th term is exceeding the 10th term of AP by 7, now we need to find the common difference of the Arithmetic Progression.


Steps to find the common difference of AP
1. Write the given relation in equation form like 17th term = 10th term + 7
2. Apply nth term formula of Arithmetic progression on 17th term and 10th term
3. Cut the First term (a) in sides, left hand side and right hand side. You will get a equation with one variable d.
4. Solve the equation and get the value of common difference (d).
